Discussing 508(c)(1)(a) Status

Jul 21, 2022    Beth Chambers

508(c)(1)(a) of the U.S. Code

Ministries do not need IRS approval to be tax exempt (for purposes of operation; this is a different question than whether donors to the ministries receive a tax exemption for gifts to the ministries).

This nation was built upon the blood of religious patriots and it will be built on the same commitment.

Dr. Garlow asks: About donors to the ministry and whether donors could give to a 501c3, which could then give to a 508?

Beth: Donors can give tax exempt donations to churches that are 508, but it would only be an issue if audited and then there would have to be proof that the church was legitimate.
