Why Should You Care About Some Old Dead Guy No One Has Ever Heard Of?

Why would we care about some guy named Haym Salomon who lived 250 years ago, that very few have ever heard of, and he wasn't even a Christian?

There are several reasons: 

• He sacrificed his life for our freedoms (in prison twice, contracting tuberculosis, and died of it at age 44).
• He put his reputation on the line (European banking houses trusted him, but they did not trust the Continental Congress), funded the American Revolution, which caused the Continental Army to win the Battle of Yorktown, which turned the war. 
• He was never paid back, died penniless, buried in an unmarked grave.
• His family paid dearly with sacrifices as well. They repeatedly appealed to the US Congress to pay them back. Our government did not. His wife and four children died penniless.
• He was forgotten.
• But…this is the 250th year, a time to remember.
• And…in an era of vile antisemitism, it is time to honor “the Jew who, through his funding, saved America."

Thus we have been calling attention to him. 

• We want a large statue to be erected in his honor, preferable 16 feet tall, in Washington, DC.
• We have talked to many members of Congress. All are positive, but the bureaucracy is massive.
• We have talked to some of the right persons in the West Wing of the White House. We got a very positive response.
• We have talked to key persons on key commissions. They are very positive. 
• But… it is still very slow progress. 
• Again … lots of “red tape.”

Positive signs regarding honoring Haym Salomon:

• At least six books have been written about him. See here
• One movie was produced about him.
• Christy Stutzman, opera trained and capable of producing Broadway type musicals, wife of Congressman Marlin Stutzman, is producing a musical telling a part of his story, to be premiered next year.
• Statues were erected in his honor in Los Angeles and Chicago many years ago. 
• The government released a stamp in his honor. 
• His story is being told considerably more in recent months. 
• Numbers of people are buying the 13 inch tall, bookshelf statues of him. Get one here

One of the ways we tell the Haym Salomon story, while at the same time confronting antisemitism, is to present the statue to persons who have given exceptional leadership combatting the hatred of Jews, and who represent the values of Haym Salomon. Here are the ones to whom we have presented the statue:

Israeli President Isaac Herzog, in his office in Jerusalem, Israel.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, Dean of the School of Government, Regent University, for founding the “Israel Institute” to equip Christian evangelical graduate students to stand with Israel and in solidarity with the Jewish people. Virginia Beach, Virginia (presented in Jerusalem).

President Donald Trump (via Paula White, Senior Advisor, White House Faith Office), Washington, DC.

And Paula White, to her personally and privately, for her leadership of the National Faith Advisory Board.

Vince Haley, Director of the Domestic Policy Council, West Wing of the White House, Washington, DC.

The sixth one was given to a very high-level government official whose name we do not have permission to reveal.
