Did You Watch It? I Hope You Did Not Miss It.

The National Gathering for Prayer and Repentance far exceeded our expectations spiritually.

First, we wondered, would people get up that early to pray in Washington, DC? We offered no breakfast. Would they come? The room was standing room only by 6am for a 6:30am event.

On top of that, it was cold and lightly snowing. My friend Charles Huang said that was because God was giving a promise to us: “…Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow…” (Isaiah 1:18). What a great promise when you are gathering to repent.

Tony Perkins felt this Scripture was for our event: “Gather together, gather yourselves together, you shameful nation, before the decree takes effect and that day passes like windblown chaff, before the Lord’s fierce anger comes upon you, before the day of the Lord’s wrath comes upon you. Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the Lord’s anger.” (Zephaniah 2:1-3)

Around 60 persons were on the stage praying, one at a time – not counting the 40 youth and young adults who joined at the end. Of the 20 Members of Congress who attended and prayed, several told us that this was the most spiritually powerful event they had ever attended. God was honored. He was present. We did not allow (almost) any name to be mentioned. We did not allow applause (until the end in applause for the Lord). We explained that the audience consisted of only One – God Himself. The event was totally “vertical” in its focus, that is, humanity to God. We had one goal: to repent, and thus to please God. People took it seriously. Of the 70 persons that we on the platform, there were no egos. Every person was deferential. It was stunning.

Speaker of the House
Kevin McCarthy

House Majority Leader
Steve Scalise

Some Members of Congress wept openly. Speaker Kevin McCarthy was just to read a Scripture. However, he insisted on praying, and it was powerful. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise read Scripture.

Your schedule is full. But may I ask for you to find a way to watch the 14 minutes “pre-show” and then the entire event (2 ½ hours)? Why would I ask for that? It is about repentance. And to be candid, our nation has no chance for survival outside of repentance. If you start watching it, you will not want to quit.

And be sure you listen to the two solos by 19-year-old Laura Bretan – winner of “Romania’s Got Talent” and 6th place in “America’s Got Talent.” Stunning. A little background: She was kicked off of Eurovision because she believes marriage is one man–one woman.

And then see Jacob Kersey, a 19-year-old police officer who was forced to resign for saying marriage is one man–one woman.
